Sometimes the name is obvious- like Robert can become Bobby or Rob. Sometimes nicknames are entirely unrelated, like Bug or Bean. There are the classic unrelated nicknames, like Junior (or one of my favorite nicknames… D3. You know, like in football. But of course that nickname is very specific)
You don’t want to box your baby into a pigeon hole, but maybe you’re already thinking ahead. Maybe your little one will be a future artist, athlete, or CEO and want a name that grows with them. Something I see on social media baby name announcements all the time is that baby has to be an adult one day. So let’s chat baby names with cool kid nicknames. I brainstormed a ton of super unique baby names that come with effortlessly cool nicknames.
Nicknames can be so cool. Or they can suck. The best thing is to give that kid options as an adult.
Lately I’m a big fan of nicknames that aren’t a direct, obvious choice, of the formal name. Case in point- my name is Katherine, but after going by Katie and Kate for a few years each, but sticking with Katherine for most of my life, I recently decided to take the tail end and go by Renn instead.
